PROJECT
Redevelopment of Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre Air-Conditioning Plant:
- Located within 2km the beach and spans over Cornmeal Creek in Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast.
- Existing built area of 42,700m².
- Riverfront dining and retail.
- Upgrade of the existing air conditioning system including conversion in part from air cooled to fully centralised water cooled chilled water generating plant.
- Central chilled water generating plant cooling capacity 9,000kWr.
SPECIAL ENGINEERING FEATURES
- A central chilled water system serving the refurbished, existing shopping centre employing variable speed water cooled chillers operating in a series counter flow arrangement for exceptional energy efficiency and plant longevity.
- New air handling units incorporating the latest in tropic proofing provisions to maximise longevity with the highly corrosive beach environment.
- Utilised 3D scanning technology in order to coordinate and fit the new chilled water plant within the existing plantroom while doubling the chilled water capacity available.
- Utilised 3D scanning technology to maintain existing Air Handling Unit plantrooms while reusing existing ductwork.
- Air-conditioned chiller plantroom and electrical switchroom to maximise equipment efficiency and minimise adverse effects from the external coastal environment.
PROJECT RECOGNITION
- Significantly reduced AC plant electrical consumption by 50% compared to the previous air conditioning system.
- 3D scanning technology ensured a complex air conditioning system upgrade within an existing building structure with no cost variations due to spatial conflicts.
