PROJECT

The long awaited MELconnx project will link the fast-growing north-eastern suburbs directly with the wider Perth passenger rail network, with trains expected to be operation in 2024. The 21km rail line is the longest METRONET rail project to get underway and is the most significant expansion of the rail network since the Mandurah Line opened in 2007.

The new rail line will have five new stations at Morley, Noranda, Malaga, Whiteman Park and Ellenbrook, with future-proofing for a station at Bennett Springs East.

Floth have been engaged to provide building services on two of the five stations – Morley Station and Noranda Station.

Floth were appointed by Laing O’Rourke, well into the MELconnx design phase, to complete IFC documentation and provide ongoing construction phase services. These circumstances required Foth to adhere to existing time frames for milestone deliveries to the PTA (Perth Transit Authority) placing significant pressure on the team to assess the existing documentation, determine the extent of work to be undertaken, establish relationships with the incumbent design team and complete the modelling and documentation to the standard required for approval and sign-off.

Floth assembled a dynamic team, drawing upon resources from multiple offices to undertake the challenge and successfully deliver upon our obligations.
